ILS Supports Nationwide Anti-Drug Campaign
Event Raises Record Level of Contributions
| ILS was a corporate sponsor for this year's Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) Drug-Free Kids Campaign, which held its annual Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C., September 25. CADCA represents more than 5,000 community coalitions, and its Drug-Free Kids campaign involves the coordinated efforts of teachers, coaches, clergy, mentors, the public health community, local leaders and business. The goal of the program is to stop drug abuse before it starts. CADCA said its ninth-anniversary dinner raised a record level of contributions. Among the evening's highlights was the presentation of CADCA's "Humanitarian of the Year Award" to DIRECTV. The award recognizes "individuals or companies that utilize their resources and leadership to help CADCA build safe, healthy, drug-free communities." The award was accepted by Chase Carey, president and CEO of DIRECTV, which is an ILS customer. In addition to its strong support for the Drug-Free Kids campaign, DIRECTV also offers "DIRECTV Goes to School," which has provided more than 5,000 satellite television systems and 75-channel "School Choice" programming packages to K-12 schools nationwide, free of charge. The service allows students to see a wide range of educational programs, including those that warn of the dangers of drug use, without leaving campus or purchasing extra video materials. | |
