BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, Sept. 15, 2008 – The Proton Breeze M launcher with Telesat’s Nimiq 4 spacecraft was carried onto its launch pad 39 (Area 200, Baikonur Cosmodrome), then the launcher was raised to the vertical, early this morning.
Russian launch team integrating specialists from Khrunichev Space Center, the Barmin General Engineering Design Bureau (KBOM), and Baikonur Federal Space Center has already begun final testing operations of the launcher components and subsystems and preparations for the fuelling of the Proton Breeze M.
The fueling will begin several hours before the Nimiq 4 launch, scheduled for September 19, 03:47 Baikonur Time (September 19, 01:47 Moscow summer time; September 18, 17:47 EDT, 21:47 GMT).
International Launch Services and Telesat signed a contract in 2006 year to launch the Nimiq 4 – a Eurostar E3000 model communications satellite designed and built by EADS Astrium - on Ð° Proton Breeze M vehicle.
The Proton Breeze M with the Nimiq 4 spacecraft will be the 47th ILS Proton mission, and the 337th Proton mission overall.
