ILS Proton Successfully Launches the W7 Satellite for Eutelsat

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, November 24, 2009 – International Launch Services (ILS), a world leader in providing mission and launch services to the commercial space industry, successfully carried the W7 satellite to orbit for Eutelsat Communications of France on an ILS Proton. The Proton vehicle lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 8:19 p.m. local time (9:19 a.m. EST, 3:19 p.m. in Paris, 14:19 GMT).  After a 9 hour 12 minute mission, the Breeze M successfully released the W7 satellite into geostationary transfer orbit.

ILS Delays Proton Launch

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, November 23, 2009 – The launch of a Proton launch vehicle with the W7 satellite was postponed today for 24 hours. There are no technical issues concerning the Proton rocket or the satellite.

International Launch Services and Telesat Announce Plans

RESTON, Va. / Ottawa, Ontario, July 17, 2009 – ILS International Launch Services (ILS) and Telesat, the world’s fourth largest fixed satellite services operator, announced a contract today for the launch on an ILS Proton of Telesat’s recently ordered Telstar 14R satellite. Telstar 14R is under construction by Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, California, for delivery to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.  ILS and Khrunichev are implementing a mission integration schedule to support a mid-2011 launch.  ILS has launched five Telesat satellites.  A sixth, Telesat’s Nimiq 5, is scheduled to launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on an ILS Proton later this year.

ILS Proton Successfully Launches IndoStar II/ ProtoStar II Satellite

Proton M with IndoStar II /ProtoStar II Satellite Erected

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, May 13, 2009 -- Today the Proton Breeze M launcher dedicated to lift the IndoStar II/ProtoStar II telecommunications satellite was moved by rail (rolled out) and erected on Pad 39 in Area 200, at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Pre-Launch Preparations Continue for the Launch of the IndoStar II/ProtoStar II Satellite

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, May 01, 2009 -- Early this week, after standalone tests finished, the IndoStar II/ProtoStar II spacecraft (SC) was mounted and clamped onto the payload adapter (PLA). The SC and the PLA stack were then mated to the Breeze M the next day, forming the orbital unit (OU). Testing and battery charging completed during the night, tilting of the OU subsequently followed.

Khrunichev Ships Proton Vehicle for IndoStar II/ ProtoStar II Launch

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan,  Mar. 18, 2009 -- A Proton M launch vehicle (LV) has been shipped from Khrunichev’s production facilities in Moscow, Russia to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The LV will be readied for the IndoStar II/ ProtoStar II satellite launch scheduled for early May. The telecommunications satellite built by Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS) will be injected into a geosynchronous transfer orbit by the Breeze M upper stage and eventually moved into a geostationary orbit by BSS.

RESTON, Virginia, April 9, 2021Twenty-five years ago, on April 9, 1996, a combined Russian, American and European team made space history with the first launch of a Western satellite onboard a Russian rocket. The Proton launch vehicle carried the ASTRA 1F satellite for SES of Luxembourg, to geosynchronous transfer orbit with an early morning liftoff from Baikonur Cosmodrome in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The launch services for this milestone mission were conducted by International Launch Services (ILS), a U.S. company, headquartered in Reston, Virginia and established in 1995. The Proton launch vehicle, a U.S. Department of State licensed launch system, is manufactured by Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, of Moscow. 

Today, Proton has conducted 97 commercial missions for over 50 companies representing 25 countries across the globe, forging ongoing partnerships in international cooperation in space.
