BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan,  Feb. 06, 2009 — The first commercial Proton launch of 2009 is scheduled for spring. The launch vehicle assigned to the first commercial Proton M mission was delivered to Baikonur Cosmodrome by rail early this morning of February 06.  The Proton launch services are provided by the USA–based International Launch Services Inc.The majority shareholder is the Russia’s Khrunichev Space Center, the designer and manufacturer of the Proton vehicle family. ILS has been marketing the Proton vehicle to commercial satellite operators since 1995. The upcoming launch will be 50th Proton commercial launch overall , for ILS.
