SAN JOSE, Calif., June 17, 2002 – The following is a Frost & Sullivan press release: Frost & Sullivan today announced International Launch Services (ILS), a global satellite launch services provider, as winner of the 2002 Market Engineering Strategic Alliance Leadership Award. ILS received this award for the strategic alliance formed between Russian companies Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center and RSC Energia, and Lockheed Martin Corporation in the United States, which has shaken the customary launch services market standing since the group's creation in 1995.

"This is an unexpected honor," said ILS President Mark Albrecht. "I've always believed we had a world-class team at ILS, combining the best of two companies and offering the two best, most reliable launch vehicles in the industry."

Frost & Sullivan presents the Market Engineering Strategic Alliance Leadership Award to the company best improving its profit potential and market position and share through partnerships and alliances within a specific industry. The analyst team conducts extensive research, analyzing all strategic alliances to determine the company most deserving of recognition for excellence.

Lockheed Martin and Khrunichev together have a combined heritage of more than 70 years' experience and more than 860 flights with their respective Atlas and Proton rockets. Through this partnership, ILS proved strategic advantage, successfully garnering a greater market share previously dominated by more established enterprises.

"ILS takes first or second place in every market segment" states Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Patrick French. "No matter how you cut the market, total launches, commercial or governmental clients, launches destined for geostationary or non-geostationary orbits, ILS is the leading player."

In each of the last three years, ILS was the launch service provider with the greatest total launches worldwide. In 2001, ILS claimed 30.3 percent of the launch market compared to 27.3 percent for Arianespace and 24.7 percent for The Boeing Company and Sea Launch Co., Llc. International Launch Services also led the market in 2000 and 1999 with market shares of 37.5 percent and 25.5 percent, respectively.
