BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, July, 10, 2009 — The AsiaSat 5 telecommunications satellite arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, today, accompanied by the Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) team. The satellite built by SS/L on the 1300 spacecraft bus will be launched upon a Proton Breeze M rocket in August for Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company, Ltd.
After customs, the spacecraft was transported to Building 92A-50 for assembly and testing.
AsiaSat 5 will provide television broadcast, telephone networks and VSAT networks for broadband multimedia services across Asia Pacific.
The Breeze M is scheduled to arrive next week. The Proton launcher arrived in Baikonur earlier this week.
