MOSCOW, Oct. 6, 2001 – Today at 20:45 p.m. Moscow Time (16:45 GMT) a Proton K successfully launched a Russian military satellite. The launch vehicle is manufactured by Khrunichev Space Center.

This was the fifth successful Proton launch this year and the 288th launch to date.
