CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., Sept. 4, 1997 – A Lockheed Martin Astronautics Atlas IIAS rocket successfully launched the GE-3 commercial communications satellite into supersynchronous transfer orbit this morning from Complex 36, Pad A, at Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS), FL. Liftoff occurred right on time at 8:03 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. It was the fifth successful Atlas launch of 1997 from CCAS and the thirty-second consecutive successful flight for Atlas.

Atlas AC-133 Ready to Launch Superbird-C

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., July 22, 1997 – A Lockheed Martin Atlas IIAS rocket is undergoing final preparations at Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS), FL, to launch the Superbird-C communications satellite for Space Communications Corporation (SCC) of Japan. Superbird-C will be launched from Complex 36B on 25 July at the opening of a 40-minute launch window that extends from 8:54 to 9:34 p.m. EDT. This will be the fourth Atlas launch of 1997 from CCAS following the successful launches of AC-127/JCSAT-4 on 16 February, AC-128/TEMPO on 8 March, and AC-79/GOES-K on 25 April.

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., Feb. 16, 1997 – A Lockheed Martin Atlas IIAS rocket, designated AC-127, successfully launched the JCSAT-4 communications satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit tonight from Complex 36B at Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS), FL. JCSAT-4 follows the successful launch of JCSAT-3 by Atlas in August of 1995. Tonight’s launch was the 28th consecutive success for Atlas and the first of nine Atlas missions from CCAS this year.
