CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Fla., Feb. 3, 2005 – When an Atlas III launch vehicle successfully placed a national security payload into orbit early this morning, it set an industry record of 75 consecutive successful missions for the Atlas vehicle.The string dates back to mid-1993, and includes the entire Atlas II and Atlas III series of vehicles as well as Atlas V vehicles launched to date. The Atlas vehicles are built by Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and marketed worldwide by International Launch Services (ILS).

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., Oct. 19, 2000 – A Lockheed Martin Atlas IIA rocket roared from Pad 36A carrying the Defense Satellite Communications System III (DSCS III) satellite for the U.S. Air Force. Liftoff occurred at 8 :40 p.m. EDT, followed by successful spacecraft separation from the launch vehicle just under a half hour later. EchoStar VI Launch Successful

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., July 14, 2000 – A Lockheed Martin Atlas IIAS rocket roared into space early this morning from Complex 36 Pad B, successfully placing the Space Systems/Loral-built EchoStar VI satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit. Liftoff occurred right on time at 1:21 a.m. EDT followed by successful spacecraft separation just under 30 minutes later. It was the sixth straight successful Atlas launch of 2000 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the 52nd consecutive successful flight of Atlas.

International Launch Services Provides Mission Success for NASA

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., June 30, 2000 – A Lockheed Martin Atlas IIA rocket lifted off from Complex 36 Pad A this morning, successfully placing the first of the next-generation Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS) into geosynchronous transfer orbit for NASA. Liftoff occurred at 8:56 a.m. EDT followed by successful spacecraft separation just under 30 minutes later. It was the fifth straight successful Atlas launch of 2000 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the 51st consecutive successful flight of Atlas.

NASA Selects International Launch Services for Future Missions

RESTON, Va., June 19, 2000 – NASA has selected International Launch Services (ILS) and Lockheed Martin’s Atlas launch vehicle for lofting future interplanetary and near-earth missions. NASA’s announcement came after review of ILS’s proposal for NASA Launch Services (NLS). NLS will be the primary method used by NASA to procure Atlas-class launch services over the next ten years.

Atlas IIA Successfully Launches Tenth U.S. Navy UHF Follow-on Program Communications Satellite

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., Nov. 22, 1999 – A Lockheed Martin Astronautics Atlas IIA rocket successfully launched the tenth and final Ultra High Frequency Follow-On (UHF F/O) communications satellite into intermediate transfer orbit this evening from Complex 36, Pad B. The on-time liftoff at 11:06 p.m. Eastern Standard Time was the beginning of a perfect mission for Atlas, which delivered the UHF F10 satellite to an intermediate transfer orbit in just under a half-hour.

First Atlas Centaur Launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base

VANDENBERG AFB, CA, December 18, 1999 – Lockheed Martin and ILS successfully launched the EOS Terra remote sensing satellite into sun-synchronous low earth orbit (LEO) this morning for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The satellite, which is a major component of NASA’s Earth Science Enterprise and the first in a series of EOS satellites, was launched on an Atlas IIAS at 10:57:39 a.m. USA PST from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
