International Launch Services Lifts GE-6 Satellite into Orbit Aboard Proton

MOSCOW, Oct. 22, 2000 – International Launch Services (ILS) today successfully launched the Lockheed Martin-built GE-6 satellite into geostationary orbit marking the fifth successful ILS flight on Proton this year, and the thirteenth consecutive flight for Khrunichev this year alone. Mission Success for Air Force Defense Communicatons Satellite

CAPE CANAVERAL Air Station, Fla., Oct. 19, 2000 – A Lockheed Martin Atlas IIA rocket roared from Pad 36A carrying the Defense Satellite Communications System III (DSCS III) satellite for the U.S. Air Force. Liftoff occurred at 8 :40 p.m. EDT, followed by successful spacecraft separation from the launch vehicle just under a half hour later. The launch was conducted by a combined team of Lockheed Martin, the United States Air Force and International Launch Services (ILS).

McLEAN, Va., Oct. 18, 2000 – A Lockheed Martin Astronautics Atlas IIA rocket is being readied at Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS), Fla., to launch the eighth spacecraft for the Defense Satellite Communications System III (DSCS III) program under contract to the U.S. Air Force. The launch window opens at 7:36p.m. EDT and extends 79 minutes to 8:55 p.m.
