ILS at the 17th annual Asia Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC)

The 17th annual Asia Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC) conference was held September 23 – 25 in Phuket, Thailand and joined together a wide range of professionals representing the satellite and space industry. Themed “New Landscape for Satellites: Asia and Beyond,” the conference tracks focused on the issues, challenges and opportunities for the satellite industry in Asia and also globally.


Failure Review Oversight Board (FROB) Concludes Express AM4R Investigation; Return to Flight Mission Success on September 28

September 29, 2014- The ILS Failure Review Oversight Board (FROB) has concluded its work, after a detailed review of the findings, conclusions and identified corrective action plans from the Russian State Inter-agency Commission (IAC) and Khrunichev (KhSC) investigations into the probable cause of the May 16 failure of the Russian Federal Proton mission carrying the Express AM4R satellite.


WSBR Announces 2014-15 Board of Directors; Janice Starzyk Named President

The Board of the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR) has announced its 2014-2015 Board of Directors, effective August 1, 2014, and named Janice Starzyk, of International Launch Services, as president for a year-long term. Ms. Starzyk replaces outgoing president Stephen Ganote, of Avascent, and will oversee all WSBR activities.


ILS Announces Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Communications

Jim Kramer has been appointed Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Communications at International Launch Services (ILS). Jim has held various positions at ILS with progressive levels of responsibility in both the sales and technical organizations. Jim has nearly 30 years of career experience in launch vehicle design, program management, business development, commercial and government sales and worked on the Atlas program with General Dynamics Space Systems Co. and Commercial Launch Services in San Diego, CA. prior to the formation of ILS. He has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota and prior to that, attended the United States Air Force Academy. “Jim is well suited for his new role at ILS and is an excellent addition to the senior leadership team,” said ILS President, Phil Slack.
Jim fills the position formerly held by Dawn Harms, who is leaving ILS for a new opportunity. Slack added, “Dawn has made many significant contributions to our organization over nearly two years and we wish her the very best in her new endeavor.”
