Moscow, Russia, December 26, 2013 – Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Khrunichev) announced the successful Proton M Breeze M launch of the Express-AM5 communications satellite for the Russian Federation today. This was the 10th Proton launch this year and the 393rd Proton launch overall since its maiden flight in 1965. The satellite was built by ISS-Reshetnev and MDA.
November 12, 2013-The Proton launch vehicle successfully placed a satellite into orbit today for the Russian Ministry of Defense. The vehicle lifted off at 3:46 a.m. Moscow time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. As per the mission design, after 9 hours, the spacecraft separated from the Breeze M and was released into geostationary orbit. The satellite was passed over to the Aerospace Defense Forces for subsequent control.
The telecommunications spacecraft Inmarsat 5F-1, was flown to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in preparation for the launch of a rocket carrier “Proton-M” with the upper stage “Breeze-M”.
International Launch Services (ILS) appointed Joe Acheson vice president and chief financial officer. Acheson formerly served as acting chief financial officer, and previous to that role, as controller for ILS. Acheson has over a decade of experience in finance in the commercial launch Industry. Before joining ILS in 2000, he worked at SAIC in various finance positions. Acheson holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from George Mason University and an MBA in international business from University of Maryland University College.
