ILS Announces Vice President of Mission Assurance and Product Development

August 20, 2013 – International Launch Services (ILS) has appointed Kirk Pysher as vice president of mission assurance and product development. Pysher will bolster ILS’ focus on performance with responsibility for the overall quality review and monitoring of the Proton Quality Management System (QMS), oversight of Proton production processes and procedures, and regular reporting to industry customers and insurers on quality improvements performed by Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Khrunichev). Pysher will report directly to the ILS President, Phil Slack.


ILS FROB Concludes GLONASS Proton Launch Anomaly Investigation

The ILS Failure Review Oversight Board (FROB) concluded its review on August 13, concurring with the conclusions of the Russian State Inter-agency Commission on the root cause and the associated corrective action plan of the July 2, 2013 Proton M/Block DM mission failure with three GLONASS navigational satellites for the Russian Federal Government.


Summary of Findings Released on Proton Launch Failure to ILS


August 8, 2013 – A summary of the findings on the root cause and corrective action plan following the failure of the July 2 Proton M/Block DM mission with three GLONASS navigational satellites for the Russian Federal Government has been released to International Launch Services (ILS) upon being cleared by Russian security.


Hispasat Sixth Space Telecommunications Conference

On June 24 – 25,  the sixth Space Telecommunications Conference took place in Santander, Spain.  The conference, established by Hispasat, focused on the challenge of efficiency in the satellite industry and the path to innovation.  International Launch Services (ILS) took part in the conference, along with over 35 other panelists from the aerospace and telecommunications industries.

Launch Services Panel Summary

The CASBAA Satellite Industry Forum was held in Singapore on June 17.  The forum’s full agenda and the opportunity for networking in between breaks made for a successful event.  Each year the conference is well attended by all regional operators, manufacturers as well as all launchers, including International Launch Services (ILS).  


Khrunichev and ILS Mark 20 Years Making Commercial Launch History at the Paris Air Show 2013

June 18, Le Bourget, France-International Launch Services (ILS) and Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (KhSC) conducted a media briefing during the 50th Paris Air Show, where 144 countries exhibited and over 350,000 visitors attended.  The joint briefing focused on the KhSC and ILS partnership over 20 years serving the commercial launch industry.  The discussion also centered on quality measures, Proton enhancements and new developments. Both Mr. Alexander Seliverstov, director general of KhSC and Phil Slack, president of ILS, provided a summary of the venture, then invited questions from the international media.
